After years of volunteering/working with the Baca Grande Volunteer Fire Department and the Town of Crestone on their fire mitigation plans and work, I've created my own business to serve our unique needs. Currently I am working as a Sawyer (a chainsaw operator), Swamper (someone who hauls material) and Hauler (I haul your stuff off for you) in an effort to reduce the risk of wildfire danger in the Crestone area. We live in a Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) zone which refers to the area of transition between unoccupied land and human development. In our case we are fortunate to be surrounded by National Forest, BLM and National Park Lands as well as BGPOA green belts and protected areas which provides a serene connection to nature but also increases our risk of wildland fire.
I work directly with homeowners to create a defensible space on your property in the event of a wildfire with the caveat that fire will cleanse and clear what it wants regardless of our intervention. However, I do believe that working with the land to create defensible space can make an impact on how and where a fire moves. I offer free assessments to walk you through your land, get a feel for your personality and connection to your trees and environment.

Preparing for Wildland Fire Video
This was a fun & educational video that I had the honor of participating in with Daniel Johnson (Shaheed) as the Director. Drew McNulty plays my daughter, my dog River was our pet, and my dear friend David Robey does the voice-over. Enjoy!
