New life and broadening horizons

When I started this blog in December 2006, it was entirely devoted to woodturning. That worked great for a while, but as my turning time slowed down a bit and family life got a bit busier, I’ve had less to write about and less time to write it.  Also, this winter I took a long fairly-casual interest in photography (that started when I took a photography class in high school) and stepped it up a bit by getting a DSLR.  This year, I’ve been taking a lot of photos, exploring old lenses, etc., which has also admittedly taken away some turning time.

So where am I going with this? Well, recently I decided to consolidate domains, and move my beadsandcoves.com here to flaminglotuscreations.com. At the same time I hope to revive it a bit with some new life. Since my free time is shared between a few different interests these days, it seems appropriate to broaden the scope of the blog a bit to acknowledge that.

Take this as fair warning that I plan to post a bit about photography as well as woodturning.  If you don’t like it, sheild your eyes and don’t say I didn’t warn you!  I used to think that focused blogs were much better than broader, multiple-interest ones, but I must admit that my wife has done a fantastic job with hers, covering subjects from knitting to philanthropy to our wild herd of animals. She does extremely well at everything she tries, and has once again inspired me to try something different.
